Lanleff - Temple

02 Oct 2014 1 1 347
The "Temple Lanleff" is a monument in ruins, built on a circular plan, probably within the 10th/11th century. It is not known, who erected this and some even saw this ruin as a prehistoric monument or Roman temple. In 1148 a church here, dedicated to the Virgin, belongs to the possessions of the priory Saint Magloire in Léhon. Circular and octanogal churches (eg. Neuvy-Saint-Sépulchre, Laon, Montmorrilon, Eunate, Torres del Rio, Tomar, Zadar, Drueggelte..) are surely inspired by the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and often connected to the Knights Templar, but - there is no proof here.
