After having parked the car in Tollevast to visit the fantastic church again, we saw thos vending machine. Saint-Martin probably had not changed within the last five years, but even a population of about 1500 may not be enough, to have an "own" bakery. Often a boulangerie were followed by a "dépôt de pain", where baguettes could be bought from a bakery, that may heve still existed in the next village. Now these dépôts seem to get replaced by vending machines. They even accept credit cards!

Here is a saint (nimbus) helping a man, who is attacked by a huge snake. Maybe the saint is one of the early missionaries (eg Saint Vigor, who was a legendary dragon tamer) rescuing a pagan soul from evil demons.

Here are two dogs(?), running (?) over a small man. Is this man a beaten warrior, hunkering down? An Anglo-Saxon - and are the two dogs Norman lions, dancing over the man?

Here is a large bearded gentleman (looks like the cannibal just seen!) sitting on a bench or a box. The guardian of the Anglo Saxon war chest. Maybe this was where the money came from that Henri de Tollevast invested into this church.

Here are two men with mustaches. It looks like the large top one, sits on the chest of the the small one. He seems to be a cannibal, as two small heads hang down from his mouth. This carving is near to Henri de Tollevast´s tomb. As Henry was a veteran of the Battle of Hastings the bearded cannibal may stand for the enemy Anglo-Saxons.

The snakes are obviously dancing and I spent some time, to find out, what kind of dance this could be. Snakes do not dance Tango, Bolero or Foxtrot. I am pretty sure that snakes are gifted belly dancers.

The spiral tail reminded me on a "pain aux raisins", named "Schnecke" = "escargot" / "snail" in Germany and Austria.
