The "Iglesia de San Román" in the village of Cirauqui (about 6kms west of the bridge in Puente la Reina), was erected around 1200, but got altered and rebuilt a couple of times over the centuries. Fortunately the wonderful portal did survive the times in nearly perfect condition. With the polylobed arch, it seems strongly influenced by the portal of the Iglesia de Santiago in Puente la Reina. The slightly pointed portal may just a bit younger, this may be called already very early Gothic style. Another detail of the portal. A bearded man (large head, long neck, small hands) in adorante-gestus and a very nice, full-figured mermaid on the right flirting with the passing pilgrims.
