Carcassonne in the morning light. Looking back to the Cité, what is the large medieval fortress, that was saved by Prosper Mérimée and reconstructed by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc within the 19th century. It was added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1997.

The "Théâtre Jean-Deschamps" is in Carcassonne´s "Cité Médiévale". It is in the back of the basilica Saint-Nazaire, where once was the cloister. The venue exists here since 1908 and has a capacity of about 5000. This evening it was fully booked. The majority of the audience was British!
