The Place Masséna is the main square of Nice. In December coloured illuminated "Buddhas", sitting on high poles, keep an eye on the christmas market here in the evenings. Under the place runs the Paillon river, that separated the old part ("Vieux-Nice") from the modern part of Nice before. Today the spacious Place Masséna is for pedestrians only - and the very modern trams.
