The old town of Spoleto was planned and built, when travelling on horseback was a convenient way - for the nobility. Most people probably walked, maybe with a donkey. No wonder - there are no car parks in the city, but a large multi storey car park outside and long moving walkways underground, that carry the tired tourist into the city. Pretty fast!
