Crossing the Creuse, I left the region "Centre-Val de Loire" and entered "Poitou-Charentes". According to my map the village was named "Port-de-Piles", but the creator of this large board had shortened the name to "Port-de-Pile".

A capital, inside the former abbey church. The "context" could not be reconstructed. It is probably older than the church. The weathered carving seems not very skilled. I could not "translate" the scene. Maybe Abraham..

.....named the abbey after the italian town, from where the relics of Saint-Barthélémy had been moved to here. This made it easier for the relics, to adapt to the new home. A really medieval idea!...
