Cologne - Bäckerei Brockmann

Cologne is the fourth-largest city in Germany - and one of the oldest. A Germanic tribe, the Ubii, had a settlement here, this was named by the Romans "Oppidum Ubiorum". In 50 AD, the Romans founded "Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium", the city then became the provincial capital of "Germania Inferior". This bakery, located next to the Severinstorburg, is for sure one of the oldest still existing in Cologne. It is claimed that it was founded in 1797 under the name "Schmitz Backes". It still is a traditional bakery, where the goods a produced every day just behind the shop. This is my favourite bakery in Cologne with not only real good bread but as well the very best "Berliner" and "Amerikaner".
