Cologne - Zolling

19 Mar 2019 2 199
Cologne is the fourth-largest city in Germany - and one of the oldest. A Germanic tribe, the Ubii, had a settlement here, this was named by the Romans "Oppidum Ubiorum". In 50 AD, the Romans founded "Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium", the city then became the provincial capital of "Germania Inferior". Two fotos of a small shop located in the Altenburger Strasse. Good shoes, even custom made ones, have been offered here over decades. I had bought Birkenstock-sandals here. Then I read - written on the shop window - that "60 Jahre sind genug!" ("60 years are enough!") - and the closout sale started. Mrs. Zolling finally retired.
