L'Isle-de-Noé - Alimentation

The rural exodus leaves its mark. With a population of less than 500, supermarkets like Aldi and Lidl in the larger communities, there is no future for the businesses in villages like L'Isle-de-Noé. When this facade, with it´s wonderful golden lettering was created, there was still much hope

L'Isle-de-Noé - Saint-Pierre

After having passed an old "hopital Saint-Jacques", now a residential house, I crossed this bridge, walked into L'Isle-de-Noé. A very large shell marked a house on the left side of the street. Here I met my host Edna X. Edna is a wonderful English Lady, who years ago bought a house on the main street. She had never been here before, when she signed the contract, so she did not really know, what she bought. It came out, that she had bought the former bar/restaurant/hotel, obsolete since years, but she filled it with life - and by now offers very affordable b+b accomodation right in the center of L'Isle-de-Noé. We watched "Coronation Street", had dinner and spent a very entertaining evening together. Thanx, Edna!
