So I fired up my forge the other day.

Here's an old lawn mower blade being re-cycled.

After heating, shaping, etc. the lawn mower blad became this.

The blade is re-heated and quickly cooed to harden the steel.

At this stage I will re-heat it to a straw color and cool it to temper the steel.

Actually this is all recycled materials except for the 3 machine screws and nuts holding on the handle. The blade, an old lawnmower blade, the handle, recycled HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) plastic. I heated salvaged plastic scraps and bottle caps, pressed the soft plastic in to a block, cut and sanded it to make the handle.
