In Japan, during the Edo era, Every artist that was an artist painted pictures, created wood block prints (ukiyo-e), etc. of Mount Fuji. Hokusai did 'Thirty six views of Mount Fuji'. Hiroshige featured Fujisan prominently in his 'Fifty six stations of the Tokaido. Since we are starting a new year, I'm reminded that it is considered extremely good luck if one's first dream of the new year is about Fujisan, Mount Fuji. Alas I did not dream of Fujisan but here is a rendering of just how I think he would have looked in my dreamscape if I had done so. Mixed media; watercolor with a wax resist, soft pastels and just a smidgen of sumi (ink) on 140 pound cold pressed paper, 12 by 14 inches.
