Sigh. The line of folks mailing and picking up Christmas packages at the North Pole, Alaska post office (zip code 99705) was even longer yesterday. I spent well over an hour standing in that line. When I took this shot, looking back at the line behind me, I was still about 15 minutes away from the counter. Merry Christmas Eve to all and to all a good morning!

Yes It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! The line at the post office here in North Pole, Alaska was long and moving slow, it took me about 40 minutes to get all the way up to the counter.

OK. So I was standing in the line to the counter in the North Pole post office. ( & yes, Virginia, there is a North Pole post office and it really is located on Santa Claus Lane!) when I took this shot. There are 15 or 20 folks in line ahead of me and about 8 or 10 behind me. The line will get longer as Christmas gets closer when folks are rushing to send their last minute gifts to families outside Alaska and pick up Christmas packages from same.

Twas the day before Christmas in the arboreal forest And nothing was stirring 'cept Santa and Boris. Boris, the Jeep, gets Santa around When the reindeer are sleeping in the tundra so sound. Boris takes Santa where reindeer dare not, No-fly zones in Iran and even the Bronx . So if in a twinkling, you see on your roof, The tread marks of tires, then that is the proof, Than Santa and Boris To your neighborhood brought Christmas and joy, To those who were good! You may even hear, As he drives out of sight, Merry Christmas to all, And try to do right!

Cat, here on flickr, is starting to question the validity of Santa! Subsequently, to reassure her, I figured I better post this shot, from a couple of years back, of me hard at work in my workshop here in North Pole! -grin-

Back in February of 2008, two young ladies from Matsuyama, Japan were visiting here. We took them out to Santa Claus House in North Pole but alas, Santa wasn't available right then.. So! Not wanting to disappoint the little girls, I sat in Santa's chair, let them sit in my lap and tell me all about what they wanted Santa to bring next Christmas. Hey, it's just the kind of guy I am! -grin-

Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Jew, pagan, agnostic, atheist, black, red, yellow, pink, male, female -we're all brothers and sisters and we can and should all share one another's joy! Merry Christmas to all, you are all my friends, you are all my family! Soft pastel on 12 by 12 inch card stock
