Friends visiting from Japan, summer parties planned, I better get busy making some beer! Here's the grain bill. This shows the grains, etc used for this style of ale.

I'd decided what beer I'll make, worked out the grain bill, hung up the steel yard and am ready to weigh out the malt.

Now the barley has been weighed and is being milled, if you look close you can see the milled barley malt dropping in to the tray below.

This is 50 pounds (23 kg.) of 2 row malted barley, the base grain for many beers and ales. Enough gain to make around 25 gallons or 95 liters of beer. No, that's not dirt or dust visible on the container, it's barley flour. :-)
