Tenshaen Garden

16 Dec 2010 273
Tenshaen Garden in Uwajima, Ehime Prefecture, Shikoku Island, Japan. A small garden designed and built in 1866 by Munetada Date (pronounced 'Dah tae'), then head of the Date clan and the feudal lord of Uwajima. For about 250 years the Date clan governed Uwajima, Munetada was the seventh lord. The garden, small in area, is ever changing with the seasons and from different viewpoints. Its name, Tenshaen, means 'the place where we are allowed to enjoy our lives'.
