Walking along the New Old Quay, don't go to the left of the bollards - the surface slopes and is slippery. Boat just visible is "Saltire" an ex-lifeboat. Taken late afternoon on a dull day.

This is a view of Wellington Pit in working order, the castle design influence can be seen in several places. The only visible remains today (2018) from this view is the Candlestick - the ventilation "chimney" to the left. After the pit closed in 1932 the site was cleared, with the demolition rubble and scrap dumped onto the West Beach. During some recent winter storms the sea has eroded the material and exposed the base of the tower, as ringed in this view. See the view toggled by the note - top right hand corner. As an archive shot, and date is ???? - this is obv not my image ...

The Candlestick, viewed in the twilight, before the floodlighting switches on. Maybe imaging things, but that blurred bird looks somewhat like the local heron, as opposed to a gull.

The Mizzen mast has been stepped, rigged and the boom is in place. Just the main mast to go now - which will be when the wind isn't blowing ! The White Building on the skyline was part of the Wellington Pit, and the stone item behind that is the Candlestick. The quay in the foreground is the "Lime Tongue", which separates the "West Strand" from the rest of the Marina / Harbour.
