GE2024 - analysis ...

07 Jul 2024 60
Demographic analysis on a post election sample of 16000 voters. Some interesting factors at play underlying the overall results. Specifically, the high proportion of tory voters aged over 65 - due to them growing up under thatcher ... I wonder how many of them have actually noticed that the personal tax allowance is now less than the basic state pension [so they'll be paying tax on it] also the high proportion for the right-wing reform party in the lower socio-economic classes, and amongst older voters. GE2024 - voter turnout UK elections

05 Jul 2024 2 53
Sadly, the turnout in 2024 was the second lowest since 1885. [60% and 59.4% in 2001]. Various reasons have been suggested as the cause of this level of voter apathy - one suggestion is that many tory supporters stayed at home, or voted reform. . FACTUAL : not my image ; fair use & public education

GE2024 - seats by vote share, not FPTP

05 Jul 2024 1 57
FACTUAL. Infographic from the Manchester Evening News. The make-up of the results for the 2024 General Election if seats won fully reflected the votes cast. To me, that looks like a hung parliament, and both the tories & Labour would need one or more coalition partners to govern. In that scenario, reform & tories could be a likely partnership, but whether it would last is another matter entirely. . not my image ; fair use & public education
