hrh[18] - we've been seen

30 May 2021 70
A couple of the ex-trammers wandering over to see if we have any treats. I think the closer one is "Robert" - an ex-trammer, he's a Shire X {not sure what his other parent was}. He was born in 1994 and retired in 2018. Following on is "Mark" , another Shire X, who was born in 1994 and retired in 2018. He's also an ex-trammer.

Open plan toastrack [car no 12, built 1888] on Loch Promenade in Douglas. Motive power is, I think, "Andrew" [sorry about the focus / framing, he wasn't going at the speed I expected as I panned the camera]

dht[18] / IoM[2] - Strathallen car sheds

02 Oct 2020 180
The old Horse Tramway car sheds at Strathallan Crescent. The original sheds have had an additional floor (offices) built over them. Starting late Nov 2018 this building was de-constructed www.britishtramsonline.co.uk/news/?p=24810 [life expired is an understatement - having looked around it a couple of months previously, I'm surprised it was still standing] and during 2019 a new building - preserving the appearance of the 1902 original design - was constructed, due to be completed in time for the 2020 season [despite the trackwork taking place]. I hope to get another visit* here very soon ! [Covid permitting] {*that trip had to wait until Aug 2023}

dht[2?2] - Rocky & 29

01 Feb 2022 73
Trammer Rocky at a fast trot on the rebuilt route along Douglas Promenade. He's hauling Tram No.29, built as an enclosed saloon for 30 passengers in 1892 by Geo Milnes, this was rebuilt between October 2017 and January 2019. Not my image, posted for educational & information purposes.

dht[17]/IoM[1] - Charles & tram no.1

At the Derby Castle end of Douglas Promenade. Charles is hoping the conductor / groom has a stash of edibles. It had just been raining (again) which is why enclosed saloon No.1 is in use ...

dht[17] - Ian and No.1 {2 of 3}

31 May 2021 66
One horse-power tram service. Motive power is a Clydesdale gelding "Ian" who is harnessed to Tram No.1 This is a replacement enclosed saloon, seating 30 passengers, built in 1913.

mint with the hole patrol ! Ian is trying to persuade the driver / groom to hand over a mint ... Ian [a Clydesdale gelding] is providing the one horsepower for enclosed saloon tram No.1. In the background are open toastrack No.42 and "Royal Tram" No.44 - the safety fence on the right is to segregate the MER [the low road] tramway terminus from the horse tram area.

dht[18]/IoM[2] - sea terminal

30 May 2021 1 81
Unidentified "trammer" - probably "Andrew" on the basis of the black forefoot - with a "sunshade" toastrack at the Sea Terminal end of the horse tramway's route along Douglas Promenade. [not actually at the Sea Terminal itself, but a few tens of yards along the promenade] {Currently - 2023 - the progress of the promenade "revamp" has truncated the tramway at Broadway / Villa Marina. Planned to return to the Sea Terminal, but when, that is The Question}

dht[17] - Ian and No.1 {3 of 3}

31 May 2021 1 78
One horse-power provided by "Ian" - harnessed to Tram No.1 , an enclosed saloon for 30 passengers, built as a replacement in 1913. As the ground shows, it's been a bit wet, hence the use of the saloons.
