Not a good image, the primary flowers on the Crocosima are out of focus. Maybe I didn't get the focus and depth of field quite right for this one. Taken for World Photography Day tbh, a cynic might say that's a bit like some parts of my life !

Mimulus flowers - showing the spots. A few years ago I grew some Mimulus cultivars in the main garden. Subsequently, a few plants have volunteered in various places. Often known as Monkey flowers, these are naturalised as Mimulus guttatus, as they have red spots not the blotches seen in M.lutens. Taken for World Photography Day 2021. Although I like the detail in the flowers, I considered the background too busy.

A very red and glossy Rosa rugosa berry or rose-hip. This was my second choice for WPD 2021, I liked the composition and the depth of colour but the lack of leaves to the left seemed to be a fault to me.

Monbretia, very colourful but somewhat invasive. Also known as Crocosima or Tritonia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crocosmia One of several images captured for "World Photography Day" on 19th August 2021. I had very cloudy and dull weather, with the trip out I had intended postponed for several days as my car was in dry dock. I chose this image because the relative brightness of the colour and the detail in the primary flower, with a background that didn't seem to be too dominant.

Taken for WPD, but didn't quite give me the result I was after. It is in focus but the composition is just not quite there.
