cvd - England : cases/ages heatmap, 21st June 2021

21 Jun 2021 112
Taken from the UK gov't Covid-19 dashboard. This is the pandemic, as seen in the County of Northumberland. Visible are - 1) First Wave : with the elderly suffering most cases [note, very limited testing so many mild cases would have been missed] 2) the very few cases during the summer of 2020 3) Second Wave : started in young adultd / secondary school age groupd, then spread generally to give infections in all age groups. Note the dip from the weak November lockdown and the rebound in cases, especially in the elderly after the winter holiday season social mixing. 'Kent' variant probably dominant in the second period of the Second Wave. 4) the almost complete lack of recent cases after vaccinating the more elderly population sector. 5) cluster of primary school cases in late March 2021 6) steady stream of low case numbers from late March 2021 7) Sudden burst of cases (again intially concentrated in 15 to 24 yr olds) as the Third Wave takes off, with infections from the 'Indian' variant. 8) Vaccinations should now be protecting most of the over 55s Interpretation is mine. cvd - UK vax trajectory, 20th June 2021

21 Jun 2021 108
A slight leveling off in the second doses, as the Third Wave, is prompting an increase in administering first doses to young adults. The target is to have offered (administered ?) at least a first dose to all eligible adults [over 18s] in the UK population before 19th July 2021. e2a :- This is one of the criteria for the government's "Step 4" of relaxing the remaining Covid-19 restrictions [postponed from 21st June 2021 because of the Third Wave]. . cvd - UK daily cases (+ra), 20th June 2021

21 Jun 2021 107
New cases rising steeply, but despite the greater transmissibility of the dominant 'Indian' variant, the rate of increase does not look quite as steep as it was in December 2020. [Probably due to vaccinations and behavioural changes] Not my Image ; Fair Use & public information

cvd - PHE 'Indian' variant rates, 9th June 2021

21 Jun 2021 1 123
Cases of the 'Indian' variant are spreading across wide areas of the country. The Third Wave is no longer confined to a few "hotspots" of infection. [and our "world-beating" gov't has continued to relax restrictions on travel and other activities] Not my Image ; Fair Use & public information

cvd - UK data summary : 11th June 2021

21 Jun 2021 122
The significant increases in new cases are continuing and are now appearing to be starting to affect other statistics. This Third Wave is from infections with the 'Indian' variant which is now the dominant strain in the UK. However, there has been elements of surge vaccinations, especially in the younger adults, and the over half a million jabs today show that trend. Not my Image ; Fair Use & public information

cvd - UK, daily cases (+ra), 5th June 2021

05 Jun 2021 108
There is a definite uptick in new cases showing in the data. This seems like the beginning of a Thrid Wave, because of the spread of the 'Indian' variant, starting in Bolton and a few hot-spots and spreading out to other areas. Not my Image ; Fair Use & public information

cvd - UK data summary : 5th June 2021

05 Jun 2021 96
New cases rising significantly, and although hospital bed occupnacy is down slightly, deaths have risen. Seems like a Third Wave is starting, with the 'Indian' variant now dominant in new cases. Vaccine rollout still making good progress, over half a million jabs in total. Not my Image ; Fair Use & public information

cvd - Bolton, patients on ventilation [2021-06-05]

05 Jun 2021 97
Bolton hospital(s) daily graph of patients on mechanical ventilation. In this area, the pandemic's second wave was definitely not a smooth curve, but one with multiple peaks, especially the steep climb in November 2021 from the 'Kent' variant. The sharp, sustained and continuing increase in the use of these beds during May 2021 shows clearly. This is from the "hot-spot" cases of the 'Indian' variant. (from the gov't dashboard). cvd - UK regional "R" ; 4th June 2021

05 Jun 2021 107
Very mixed results with "R" as there are more areas with "R" above 1.00 , indicating that cases are spreading. In other words, signs that the 'Indian' variant is starting to cause a Third Wave of infections. . . Not my Image ; Fair Use & public information

cvd - UK data summary : 4th June 2021

05 Jun 2021 1 103
Daily new cases are shooting up quickly, mainly due to the spread of the 'Indian' variant [B.1.617.2]. This is looking like a Third Wave now, with some increase in hospital admissions. The vaccine rollout continues, with further younger adults being invited for the jabs. Not my Image ; Fair Use & public information

Genome sequencing is showing that the spread of the 'Indian' variant cases has developed into more areas, outside the original "hot-spots" - this now looks like the start of a "Third Wave" ... Not my Image ; Fair Use & public information

cvd - UK daily vax, both doses 29th May 2021

31 May 2021 107
Still concentrating on administering second jabs, although the number of first jabs has seen a large rise earlier in the month. Unfortunately, this achievement has not conquered the Indian variant which is still spreading. Not my Image ; Fair Use & public information
