Lamp on the external end of C.13. The "Pairs" were two of the original 1873 4-wheel carriages mounted on steel underframes, running on bogies. F68 was formed from A9 and C13, as their underframe dates from 1909, it is likely that this was the first "pairing". It was withdrawn in the 1970s and then sold to the Phyllis Rampton Trust. After restoration, and being put onto 2ft gauge bogies it is now on display at Aberystwyth.

Interior of C13. I suspect that we are looking at varnished oak, and not scumble. Originally, Third class on the steam railway was not upholstered. MSR[HI] - Brake van E.5 at Douglas {date ?}

20 Mar 2023 1 70
4-wheel Brake van E.5 [built 1876] at end of the south line platform in Douglas Station. [Image date ?? 1950s / 1960s ?? ] In two-tone [brown ?] livery, with the duckets removed and boarded up. The doors aren't in the best of condition and the main waist panel has a long split - at least 12", maybe 18" long in it. Long since scrapped. . Not my Image : Fair Use & public information

MSR : F63[done] - Carriage at Douglas

27 Feb 2023 5 4 118
F63 outside at Douglas in mid February 2023, after being un-wrapped from the tarpaulins and protective layers applied in Haltwhistle for crossing the Irish Sea. For Info : B10 is the further ex-4-wheeler body. IIRC, some further work will be required to complete fitting the vacuum brakes. . . Not my Image : fair use & public information

MSR[HI] - "K" vans and a "C" carriage

15 Oct 2022 66
A rake of four "K" class vans - these are high-sided cattle transport, some of which were never roofed; the one at the far end seems to be one of them. These are partially obscuring a passenger coach probably from the "Schools Service". Schools' coach looks like a "C" half of a "Pairs" coach, but which one ? There are over a dozen to chose from ! although, it seems not to have a brake, so that would narrow it down a bit. Douglas Station, 22nd May 1948. F63 - stored at Port Erin

F63 (B6 & B10) was withdrawn in 1987, stored in Port Erin carriage shed. As seen on our visit during September 2018. The other three "Pairs" are under tarpaulins at Port St Mary. {subsequently moved - in 2021 - to under-cover storage elsewhere on the Island} [initially posted on 12 January 2021, had 3 visits when reposted on 8/4/21]
