CoLC - Tuition Fees

21 Jul 2024 24
The current proposal [Nov 2024] will see fees rise to £9,535 in September 2025, which will only partially alleviate the funding shortfall at Universities. www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-62237170 The other factor is the cost of living crisis is putting off a lot of potential students from lower income families, as they would leave university saddled with huge levels of debt. Not being helped by brexit & immigration rules significantly stifling overseas student numbers. . Not my Image : fair use & public education

CoLC - privatised water

21 Jul 2024 23
The amount of debt around the neck of some water companies is staggering. To who or what those debts are owed might be illuminating, at least some of them will be fines for things like not fixing enough leaks and sewerage discharges ... Most of which will be paid for by customer charges, as raising capital with such millstones can't be easy. Still think privatising the water supply was a stupid move, driven by political dogma ! .
