This is probably a self / bird sown sunflower, plus a fly of some sort, catching some late sunshine - on 12th October 2023.

Very surprised to see one of JEY's sunflowers in full bloom - on the 14th November 2022.

This bright specimen grew as a volunteer, from spilt birdfood (black sunflower seeds in a high energy mix made up locally) when spotted we moved the seedling plants into pots to lift them out of rabbit range. This wasn't the only one, but it has the nicest flower ... ID - probably Helianthus annuus or possibly a hybrid with H.annuus and another variety. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helianthus_annuus
