IoM[2] - mobile advert

30 May 2021 61
Mobile advertising - quite well done, pity my image isn't quite focused ... that's not so heavily modified as one or two things I've seen. {There was a motorised sofa in, I think, North Wales a couple of decades or more ago}

MSR[HI] : F.37 - at Port Erin {early 1970s}

06 Aug 2022 88
Ex-Manx Northern Hurst Nelson F37 at Port Erin, pre 1972 - 1975. The lower part of the lettered Guard's door appears very rippled. {info from 2022, that's because of the material used to replace the original panelling} Not my Image : Fair Use & education

MSR[HI] : F.65 - at Port Erin {1969}

01 Jun 2022 61
F65, wearing something similar to the "modern" livery, at Port Erin in 1969. . F65 was formed from B22 and C7 being mounted on a bogie underframe in 1910, the bodies were scrapped in 1983, and the underframe remains in service as "Ballast Hopper No.1" ... ... hmmm potential replica ? . MSR[HI] : F.56 - at Port Erin {? 1950s}

01 Jun 2022 65
"Pairs" F56 at Port Erin, possibly in the 1950s, but after the "gap" was panelled over. [C8 to the left in this view] F56 was formed from A8 + C8 being mounted on the bogie underframe in 1924. The bodies were scrapped in 1968, the underframe was sold off [possibly to the 2ft gauge Festiniog Railway, Nth Wales]. Not my Image : Fair Use & public information

IoM[2] - Port Erin, lifeboat house

28 Feb 2022 138
The "new" lifeboat house at Port Erin, dates from 1925 (the old house is from 1884) and currently houses an inshore boat, B-813 "Muriel and Leslie" - which is an Atlantic 85 - on station from 2006. She is slipway launched and recovered with a winch.

IoM[2] - walking on the beach

30 May 2021 108
Walking across the beach and past the harbour at low tide, Port Erin. We had not seen the notice telling people that dogs were not allowed on the beach. But Ben didn't even leave a pee-mail, much less a solid deposit. And he was treated for internal / external parasites the day before we came on over on holiday. There was a spaniel further along ... but I didn't hear anyone yelling at them.

The distinctive shape of the old RNLI [1884] boat house in Port Erin. This was replaced in 1926

IoM[2] - Port Erin lifeboat

30 May 2021 6 4 150
Port Erin has had an Inshore lifeboat on station since 1992. [According to my LBES Handbook, that should be B-813 "Muriel and Leslie" an Atlantic 85 class ILB, who has been there since 2006]. Looks like the station mechanic is changing propellers.

IoM[2] - Port Erin bay and beach

Isn't this a nice view ? Sun, sand with blue sky and bluer sea ! Port Erin, Isle of Man There is a small lighthouse on the end of the short pier.

IoM[2] - V R postbox

Spotted in Port Erin. A cast iron Victorian wall post box. And, still in use ...

F63 - stored at Port Erin

08 Apr 2021 11 1 213
F63 (B6 & B10) was withdrawn in 1987, stored in Port Erin carriage shed. As seen on our visit during September 2018. The other three "Pairs" are under tarpaulins at Port St Mary. {subsequently moved - in 2021 - to under-cover storage elsewhere on the Island} [initially posted on 12 January 2021, had 3 visits when reposted on 8/4/21]

IoM[2] - No.13 at Port Erin

No.13 "Kissack" at Port Erin. The angle to the sun made the brass shine so much I had to capture the gleam.

MSR[HI] : F.62 - at Port Erin, c1933

27 Dec 2018 2 1 408
F62, taken at Port Erin about 1933. Both A1 & B1 have been downgraded to "Third" but the gap between them has not been enclosed. As far as can be estimated from a B&W image, the livery appears to be all one colour.
