Sunshade tram No.32[?] is currently under restoration - the curved metal "dash" is yet to be replaced, as are the flip-able seat backs. The woodwork on this is to a very high standard and nicely varnished. Currently over the open inspection pit, hence the yellow barriers, just behind No.18, with the "Royal Tram" No.44 in the patriotic red, white & blue livery on the road at the back.

No.4 Loch Promenade, Douglas. The 1887 Jubilee Clock is on the extreme left. It was manufactured by Walter Macfarlane & Co at the Saracen Works in Glasgow, and some parts were sent to England for restoration in 1996. [it was re-sited onto a new plinth in 2013]

GGF - Sunderland 100

Sunderland 100 in a British Steel livery, applied as part of the sponsorship deal that was involved in funding the restoration. Dunston Rocket in the background, so looking North along The Link. 100 aka Metropolitan 331 is a "Feltham" with the driver in a separate cab. Very nice in wet weather, but more like a hot greenhouse on sunny days. . Note that 100 has two poles, instead of the bow collector it should have.

Newcastle 102 is heading southwards along "The Link" between Riverside / Dunston and Eslington Norwood. The "Link" was a relatively long and narrow strip joining the two main sections. The tower block in the background was known as the "Dunston Rocket"

Manchester 765 (Heaton Park Tramway), Oporto 196, Blackpool & Fleetwood 40 (Crich), Newcastle 114, Blackpool 31, Sheffield 264 and Sunderland 16. ESP - 93th UK - Rotterdam - 2008 : local transport

One of the things I found interesting, was that Rotterdam has (in 2008) an extensive public transport network of trams and many people use bicycles or walk. It was possible to buy day or 3-day "rover tickets" on the trams or at the stops. There are some buses and a few private cars, taxis and vans - lorries deliver at night ...

A couple of the Blackpool "Heritage" trams arriving at Fleetwood, some quite good crowds developed during the day. Keeping people clear of the tracks was a full-time job !

Three working exhibits at the East Anglia Transport Museum - a trolleybus and two trams - were providing visitors with short rides around the site. L -> R they are LT 1858 (1930) ; Blackpool 159 (1937) and Maidstone 52 (LCD 52) trolleybus from 1953. Standing here at the Chapel Road terminus, whilst the next group of passengers climb aboard. Rides on the trams, trolley- and motor buses plus the narrow gauge railway are all free once you've paid to get in. All the volunteer operating staff are well-trained (tested) and very friendly.
