Ruston & Hornsby 275hp 0-6-0 shunter D2992 at Southampton Western Docks. Built in 1962, this was one of 4 of the type withdrawn in May 1973, and so didn't survive long enough to be renumbered into Class 07. Sat12Jun71. Scanned

Ruston & Hornsby Class 07 number 2987 trundles through Southampton Eastern Docks with a freight consisting of insulated containers atop Conflats (remember them?) Withdrawn October 1976 as 07003, it passed to British Industrial Sand at Oakamoor, and scrapped in 1985. Sun13Jun71. Scanned

Stabling point at Southampton Western Dock, with Class 07s 2996 2992 and 2989 on view. 2996 went to Powell Duffryn at Kidwelly in 1976 as 07012 and later moved to British Steel Scunthorpe, where it can still be found. 2996 was never renumbered and scrapped at Eastleigh in 1976. 2989 became 07003 and was sold to ICI at Middlesborough, then later bought by the Great Central Railway at Loughborough.
