The original wooden footbridge at Dutton Park station is of course is now long gone as is everything else in view. The bridge was in two sections but neither span looked particularly solid! A Queensland Railways 2000 Class railcar is seen heading north towards Brisbane city centre. Currently the station is closed for rebuilding as part of the Cross River Rail development. With first light on the horizon this is the view south from Mansion Lane bridge Halifax as Grand Central Class 180 diesel multiple unit heads towards Dryclough & Greenland junctions and onwards to London with 1A59 the 06.56 Bradford Interchange to London King's Cross.

Heading east GB RailFreight Class 60 diesel 60056 with 6E36 the 01.45 Liverpool Tuebrook Sidings to Drax biomass train has just passed Heaton Lodge Junction north of Huddersfield on the ex-Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Calder Valley line at 06.54. The shot was taken from the footbridge over the ex-LNWR New Line which now joins the Calder Valley line at Heaton Lodge East Junction off left. The footpath continues under the LYR line in a very low tunnel and up the hill past the stone building. HFF & have a great weekend.

Cross-Country Class 170 diesel multiple unit 170113 is stabled in the Up carriage sidings while an unidentified East Midlands Railway 43xxx HST has just arrived into platform 2 with 1D43 the 14.34 St Pancras International to Nottingham.

EMR (the former EMT) Class 158 Express Sprinter diesel multiple unit 158854 manoeuvring out of Nottingham Eastcroft depot visible in the distance. The left hand lines run in from Grantham & Lincoln and over the Nottingham canal bridge at bottom into Nottingham Midland station on the other side of London Road. The overgrown area to the left is the former Low Level station sidings. HFF & have a great weekend.

GWR Class 43 HST diesel multiple unit 43192 departs from Lostwithiel station with 2E15 the 12.50 Penzance to Exeter St Davids service. HFF and have a great weekend.

An unidentified TransPennine Class 185 dmu heads towards Stalybridge station with the first eastbound train of this Sunday morning - 1K11 the 08.32 Manchester Piccadilly to Hull service. The Pennine mountains fill the horizon. The two large cotton mill buildings, Clarence Mill to the left & Whitelands Twist Mill on the right, have been put to other use but it is good to see them still standing. An unidentified TransPennine Hitachi Class 802 Nova 1 bi-modal diesel/electric multiple unit with 9S06, the 06.24 Liverpool Lime Street to Newcastle service, takes the curve at Paddock. The train will shortly pass through Springwood tunnels before arriving at Huddersfield station.

Aberdeen Station Class 47 diesel 47251 departs past the fabulous signal gantries that used to grace this line. I was returning from supervising a VSP velocity survey on Mobil's Beryl oil production platform & an exploration well in the same block in April 1977. After a helicopter ride from the offshore rig to Sulom Voe in the Shetlands the onward flight to Aberdeen was by DC3 Dakota - brilliant. I then took the train from Aberdeen to Kings Cross changing at Waverley but because I hadn't slept for 48 hours I missed most of the journey south of Edinburgh being slumped in my seat asleep.
