On the Sunday morning of the 15th Dresden Steam Engine Festival two steam-hauled specials from Dresden to Freiberg ran in parallel from Tharandt southwest of Dresden. One of the pair was this freight train headed by Deutsche Reichsbahn Class 52 2-10-0 52 8154-8 waiting in Tharandt station for the second train which was running an hour late. I confess I wasn't concentrating on the bench when I took this shot.... Anyway HBM to everyone. Have a great day.

Deutsche Bundesbahn Class 50 2-10-0 050-042-1 Kriegslok simmers with several other locomotives around the turntable of this modern half roundhouse shed in the summer heat of 1973. Although I knew that DB steam was still in service in this area I only saw the smoke drifting across by chance alongside the road while hitch-hiking along the western side of the Rhein Valley. 50-042-1 was built in 1939 by Henschel (works number 24662) and at this time was shedded at Saarbrücken. It was withdrawn from that depot in March 1974 and scrapped by Metallum AG, Saarbrücken.

A steam hauled passenger train on the Graz - Köflacher - Bahn in Austria. GKB Class 50 2-10-0 50-685 is departing eastwards from Voitsberg west of Graz in September 1975. I was in Austria participating in a crustal scale refraction seismic experiment (ALP) organised by a group of European universities including Birmingham between 8th and 20th September 1975. Since December 2007 the Graz - Lieboch - Köflach route has been line S7 of the new S-Bahn Styria.

I'm prepping in the rain, what a glorious feeling, I'm happy again... Our loco is on the right - Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 46521 - but the main subject is on the adjacent road - BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 92214.

British Railways Standard 9F 2-10-0 92214 sits behind the dollies in Loughborough yard. We had just taken over the loco from the morning crew and were waiting before hooking up to the stock for the 14.00 Gold Datex turn. The fire & water were in good shape so time for a quick snap! Under the spreading old oak tree... A shot of the 10am from Loughborough - the GCR's first public train since 15th March 2020 - climbing the gradient from under the A46 bridge on the approach to Birstall behind 9F 2-10-0 92214. HFF & have a great weekend.

Back on the Great Central and two trains passing. British Railways 9F 2-10-0 92214 on the left is actually stationary behind the red Outer Home while visiting ex-Somerset & Dorset Railway 7F 2-8-0 53808 enters the section to Quorn & Woodhouse with a passenger train.

British Railways Standard 9F 2-10-0 92212, re-numbered as 92178 for the Timeline Events photo charter. The photographers had walked on to the next location near Quorn & Woodhouse's Down Starter signal and are just visible in the distance. We backed behind the occupation bridge about half way along the Quorn straight & were just starting our next run past.

Two for the price of one! British Railways Standard 9F 2-10-0s. Left is 92212, visiting from the Mid-Hants and right is our own 92214.

We had spent the last hour or so moving backwards and forwards in and around Woodthorpe for the gallery (seen by the colour light signal) and were now waiting on orders before moving on to the next location near Quorn & Woodhouse station.

British Railways Standard 9F 2-10-0 92212 stands on road 1 at Loughborough. I had dropped the contents of the ashpan in the pit and we are about to come off shed at 09.15.
