This striking, oriental-themed "Cherry Clan" candy box from Ferrara Pan features a trio of sinister, anthropomorphic cherry heads and a pagoda to boot. This reflected a name change from the previous "Cherry Chan" box with equally stereotypical graphics.
Perhaps the threat of legal action from the estate of Sax Rohmer or the rightful copyright holder of "Charlie Chan" necessitated the name change?
Shortly after this, all the Ferrara Pan candies like Johnny Apple Treat, Alexander the Grape, and Cherry Clan merely followed the lead of their popular Lemon Head candy and became Apple Head, Grape Head, and Cherry Head respectively.

Vintage Cherry Chan candy box from Ferrara Pan, depicting a fairly sinister Charlie Chan look-a-like. The box dates from the early 1980's and was soon after changed to Cherry Clan, a re-design which still played on Far-eastern stereotypes.
Their whole line of flavored candies was more recently brought in line with the Lemonhead branding, as Cherry Clan became Cherry Head candies, and Alexander the Grape took on the less flamboyant Grape Head title.
