Stark, and ripe with a seductive ethereal beauty, Robert Graef painted a perfect cover for the first installment of A. Merritt's classic "Creep, Shadow!" Argosy Weekly - September 8, 1934 issue.

Regarding the right margin, this isn't an example of an overzealous crop on my part. Instead, most early Avons were printed slightly oversized compared to other paperbacks of the day, and they can be found with various trims.
