Swami_fortune_teller

14 Apr 2011 328
Picture yourself back in the 1950's: you're at a crossroads in life and you've been mulling over the decision to no avail, perhaps wandering the streets into the wee morning hours. The glint of neon flickering off chrome and glass beckons, and you fatefully stroll into some random diner or coffee shop. You take your seat among a smattering of other nocturnal zombies at a seemingly endless slab of formica, and, lo and behold, you reach for a napkin and the Swami appears! Problem solved. This clever fortune-telling machine doubled as a napkin holder - a long-time product of the Shipman Manufacturing Company of Los Angeles, California. Circa 1950's.
