Vandaag, 15 augustus 2020, was het precies 75 jaar geleden dat de Tweede Wereldoorlog ten einde kwam. Japan maakte zijn capitulatie bekend. In Nederland wordt dat nu beperkt gevierd, vandaar de vlag op de kerk. Voor Nederland in 1945 betekende dat Nederlands-Indië ook weer bevrijd en Nederlands zou worden. Bevrijd wel, maar niet meer Nederlands. Twee dagen na de Japanse capitulatie riep Soekarno de republiek Indonesië uit. Na een kostbare (koloniale) oorlog waarin Nederland de soevereiniteit probeerde te heroveren, werd die in december 1949 aan Indonesië overgedragen. Aan beide zijden vielen vele slachtoffers. For The Netherlands in 1945 it meant that also the Netherlands Indies were liberated and the idea was that it would become Netherlands Indies again. Liberated it was, but not again Dutch. Two days after the Japanese capitulation the republic Indonesia was proclaimed by Soekarno. After an expensive (colonial) war in which The Netherlands tried to reconquer sovereignty, this was handed over to Indonesia in december 1949. On both sides there were many casualties. Het woord ‘Pasen’ is via het Latijn en Grieks waarschijnlijk afgeleid van het Hebreeuwse woord ‘Pesach’, het Joodse feest van de uittocht uit Egypte. In de christelijke traditie wordt de wederopstanding van de dood door Jezus gevierd. Andere tradities geven ook een nieuw begin van leven aan: het beschilderen, verstoppen en eten van eieren, paasvuren, de palmpasenstok. Op de foto een bekend dorpsgezicht van Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, met daarop drie godsdienstige stromingen. Links het bewaardershuis van de Joodse begraafplaats Beth Haim (Huis van het Leven). De begraafplaats ligt achter dit huis en het hek dat doorloopt tot de witte ophaalbrug en werd geopend in 1614. De doden zijn hier begraven tot de wederopstanding. De oorspronkelijke ingang bevindt zich aan de Bullewijk daar de lichamen per boot werden aangevoerd. Achter de ophaalbrug (over de Bullewijk) de katholieke St.Urbanuskerk uit 1867, architect is Pierre Cuijpers die ook architect was van het Rijksmuseum en het Centraal Station in Amsterdam. Rechts de protestantse Amstelkerk uit 1775. Gebouwd op de plek waar ooit een kapel stond die gewijd was aan Urbanus. Een van de twee hoofdingangen van de kerk bevindt zich aan de kant van de Amstel daar kerkgang vroeger ook per boot ging. Zowel beide kerken als begraafplaats zijn in gebruik. In the Christian tradition the resurrection of the death by Jesus is celebrated. Other traditions are also indicating the beginning of new life: the painting, hiding and eating of eggs, Easter fires, the Palm Sunday Stick. On the photo a well known village view of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, with on the photo three religious currents. Left the ‘keepers’house of the Jewish cemetary Beth Haim (House of Live). The cemetary is behind the house and the fence which continues until the white drawbridge over the river Bullewijk. It was opened in 1614. The death are burried until resurrection. The original entrance was on the bank of the river Bullewijk as the bodies were transported by boat. Behind the drawbridge the catholic St. Urbanuskerk (1867). Architect was Pierre Cuijpers who also designed the Rijksmuseum and the Centraal Station in Amsterdam. On the right the protestant Amstelkerk from 1775. On this spot where the rivers Amstel and Bullewijk merged, was since ages a chapell dedicated to Urbanus. One of the main entrances of this church is on the side of the river Amstel as many churchgoers arrived by boat. Both catholic and protestant churches as well as the cemetary are still in use. Saturday Self Challenge: Hobby of verzameling Je bekijkt nu mijn grootste verzameling: één van mijn ruim 4000 foto’s op internet. Verder vind ik het leuk om buiten sportief bezig te zijn: trekken, hardlopen, fietsen. Mijn toerfiets zie je dan ook voor de protestantse kerk in Ouderkerk a/d Amstel staan: slechts 12 km langs de Amstel vanuit het centrum van Amsterdam.
