I am envious of all of the missions to Mars that are underway. Lacking a rocket ship to launch my own mission, I have improvised and now find myself soaring above the stark terrain of a Mars-like landscape. This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera and Super-Multi-Coated Takumar/6X7 1:4.5/75mm lens with a Pentax 67 82ø Y48(Y2) SMC filter using Rollei RPX 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

The snow capped summit of Telescope Peak 11,043 ft (3,366 m) overlooks the lowest point in Death Valley National Park, Badwater Basin 282 ft (86m) below sea level, a dramatic fall from grace by any standards. This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C medium format film camera with a Carl Zeiss Distagon 1:4 f=50mm lens and Kowa O81-B ø67 filter using Kodak Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.
