Cyclops of Calistoga

01 Sep 2019 6 3 173
Napa Valley is full of fine wineries, spectacular restaurants, beautiful landscapes, unique architecture and beautiful artworks. Not surprisingly, all of this bounty also attracts nefarious types hoping to capitalize at the expense of others, such as the horrific Cyclops of Calistoga . Shortly after taking this photo of the hideous beast, he fled into the vineyards, lurking in the shadows hoping to strike unsuspecting innocents again. This photo was taken by a Minolta Autocord Seikosha-MX (Chiyoko) TLR medium format film camera and Chiyoko Rokkor 1:3.5 & 1:3.2 f=75mm lenses and HOYA HMC 49mm Y[K2] filter + adapter using Kodak 100TMX film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered using Photoshop.

Wars of the Flowers

05 Jul 2019 11 7 686
A fierce civil war rages in the Wine Country of California similar to the Wars of the Roses fought in England during the 1400's between the supporters of two rival branches of the royal House of Plantagenet (the House of Lancaster, associated with a red rose, and the House of York, with a white rose). Battle lines have been drawn with the whites having the high ground and the reds controlling the lower regions. At stake is the claim of supremacy over the entire Napa-Sonoma region. The conflict has waxed and waned for decades with precious red and white wine needlessly spilled. When will the madness finally end?! This photo was taken by a Minolta Autocord Seikosha-MX (Chiyoko) TLR medium format film camera and Chiyoko Rokkor 1:3.5 & 1:3.2 f=75mm lenses with a Toshiba 49mm SL-1A filter + bayonet adapter using Kodak Portra 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered using Photoshop.

The Road Not Taken

26 Jun 2019 5 695
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. by - Robert Frost This photo was taken by a Minolta Autocord Seikosha-MX (Chiyoko) TLR medium format film camera and Chiyoko Rokkor 1:3.5 & 1:3.2 f=75mm lenses with a Toshiba 49mm SL-1A filter + bayonet adapter using Kodak Portra 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered using Photoshop.
