Memories of the past

04 Mar 2010 207
A quick upload before I dash out. Should have posted a bit earlier this morning, but didn't think of it. Can't remember where I found this little glass marble, but I remember being happy to find it, and now it has given me a photo op : ) No idea why this photo came out this colour - it was photographed on a white surface! Can you believe it? It's NOT a water droplet, LOL!

Battenburg cake

I've been out of the house so much recently and just didn't get a chance to photograph this Battenberg cake until all I had left were two rather dry slices left, LOL!! Still tasted good though : ). Anyone else out there familiar with this ridiculously sweet cake, with marzipan round the outside and overly sweet jam gluing the quarters together : ) My mother first introduced my kids to it many, many years ago, and from time to time my daughters will buy one for me. This particular cake was given to me by my youngest daughter, Rachel (Flickr, Silver Pomegranate), when she came to Calgary from Vancouver for a short visit. It was part of my birthday present for today : )

Chocolate Checker Mousse Cake

LOL, the reason for buying this much-too-tempting dessert was simply that I was feeling desperate to photograph something different! Too many flowers, too many owls, too many ...... The hardest part about photographing something like this delicious Chocolate Checker Mousse Cake is having to download my photos and check that at least one of the photos has come out sharp enough - and THEN I can eat it, ha, ha! I must point out, though, that it is/was only about 3" diameter!! Hundreds of calories, I'm sure, but when it comes to getting a photo, sometimes, you just have to do what you have to do! Thanks, Safeway, yet again : )

The other side of the fence

This was taken on 7th February when everywhere, especially near the river, had been turned into a frosted winter wonderland. One of the most beautiful winter days I've experienced. The ice crystals didn't last very long and most had vanished on our return walk.
