Orange burst

This was such a pretty flower - I think a Chrysanthemum. Very spikey and irregular in petal length. Today, I was out from 7:00 a.m. till 7:15 p.m. on the Nanton Christmas Bird Count. Dead beat, so am only posting one image tonight, LOL. I should also add that the last part of the day was spent back at one of the organizer's homestead, for a delicious pot-luck supper, while all the sightings were organized and recorded. Had such beautiful weather today and the mountains and Foothills looked gorgeous, covered in snow. Not many photo opportunities, though, as we were driving/being driven along all the side roads most of the time, with just an occasional stop to quickly walk around various homesteads. The only few bird photos I took were of a Great Horned Owl : )

They're baaack ...

After a morning's walk in Weaselhead today, I decided to drive just south of the city to see how much snow was in the fields surrounding this now "famous" row of red sheds. Not a lot of snow in the field, but it was pretty deep along the edge of the road - as I found out when I tried to walk over to the fence : )

Up close

This is the tiny pistil and a few stamens of a Christmas Cactus flower : ) Seen though my little macro lens, a Raynox DCR-250. Still have a long way to go before I (hopefully) succeed in getting greater clarity with my supermacros, but it is fun to see things so much closer. Needed a "lazy" day (i.e. a day at home) today, ready for another long Bird Count day tomorrow.
