A few fireworks from the August 2007 Globalfest Fireworks Competition to wish each and every one of my "local" friends, my long-time overseas friends, and my Flickr friends a very happy, healthy and safe New Year! It's hard to believe, isn't it, that seven years have passed since all the fuss about the year 2000? Thank you all for your friendship and encouragement, and for letting me share my photos with you - SO much appreciated! I'm looking forward to another year of seeing where you have been and what beautiful things in nature you have discovered!

I know everything is "wrong" about this photo (that bright red blur, etc.) but it still reminds me of the atmosphere on Friday night! Each night, the International Fireworks Competition holds breathtaking firework displays choreographed to music, launched from Elliston Park. The synchronization of fireworks and music and the reflection of fireworks on Elliston Lake were spectacular. When I took two or three experimental photos just before it got dark, using Night mode on my old Olympus camera, all I got was blur! So, expecting little, I was very happily surprised to find that some of my photos did turn out OK. I'll try not to bore you with TOO many photos - will spread them out!

The white is rather too dazzling, but I liked the reflection in the lake.
