I don't know if the tears are actually part of this little angel ornament or whether they are caused by rain. Very fitting, though, as this dear little angel was part of a roadside memorial "shrine" for a 22-year-old young man. He had been found shot to death in his SUV in 2008, along a gravel backroad just outside residential area of Calgary. I found it very moving. These Red-breasted Nuthatches are such delightful little birds and it is very humbling when one flies down to your hand. This morning, this one flew down to friend Katie's hand - and yes, it was a cold morning with a nasty bitter wind! Katie is 15 years old and is unbelievably keen, observant and knowledgeable about nature, birds especially. She also loves taking photos and video of everything she sees. Way to go, Katie, you clever girl!
