The perfection of Mother Nature

Every now and then, you can be lucky finding sunlight shining though the forest and lighting up the very fungus that you've found. This is an old photo from my archives, from a folder that I had forgotten about. Thought I'd post it and add to my Fungi, Lichens and Slime Molds 4 album - wow, that means I have 901 fungi, lichen or slime mold images on my photostream, lol. This one was photographed on 23 August 2010, SW of Calgary at Brown-Lowery Provincial Park. Is this a species of Crepidotus?
The famous, annual Calgary Stampede begins tomorrow, with the Stampede Parade taking place in the morning. William Shatner (from Star Trek) is our Parade Marshall. No worries about the weather, as it's a beautiful, sunny day today and tomorrow is supposed to be good, too. Too hot for my liking, though, as it's supposed to get up to 32°C (90°F) this afternoon.
Lol, mid-evening, and the ice-cream van is driving up and down my street, playing Christmas songs! Hoping to make us all feel cooler??

These were very tiny mushrooms growing on a log at Brown-Lowery Provincial Park on 16 July 2013. The cluster was maybe an inch and a half tall, and I thought they were rather cute. Not much in the way of fungi that day, as it was still a bit early for the peak of the mushroom season (August). I still have a lot of fungi photos that I should eventually upload - unfortunately they aren't very exciting images, so I tend to avoid posting them : )
It's -7C (windchill -13C) this morning (25 March 2014) and is heavily overcast, making me wonder if snow is in the forecast. Sure enough, flurries are expected this afternoon (Tuesday), all the way through Sunday. The following week looks much sunnier so far, thank goodness.

The light was just too harsh to get a decent, detailed photo of these little fungi, but I thought they were still cute enough to post : ) Not sure, though, if these are tiny mushrooms or if they belong to a lichen that produces very similar mushroom-like growths. I find it too difficut to tell the two apart. Seen when a few of us spent the day botanizing at the Waiparous trails, high above the Ghost River, NW of Calgary, on 31 August 2012.
