Anyone who loves to work with wood should be drooling profusely at this HUGE burl! The wood in the burl should appear in beautiful swirling patterns, often interlaced with different colors. On the way back from our hike out to the Harriette Lake vista, we stopped here for about 15 minutes. It was an enchanting little lake, and the temperature was perfect for a swim for any who dared (had I brought my swimsuit I'd have definitely jumped in!) As a photographer, I was overwhelmed at this view, and then at the countless dragon- and damselflies soaring around everywhere. For the first time, I got many very nice images of dragonflies and I've posted two of them to my set, "Hike to Mountain Lakes." There you will also see other pictures I took on this pretty hike! Lucky, lucky me! This spot at the edge of Clover Lake was teeming with bold dragon- and damselflies, and I finally got good pictures of dragonflies!!! HAPPY DAY!!! Both of the shots I put up on Flickr were taken at 35x zoom on my Canon SX30 IS. The brightness of the day made it possible for a high ISO and a cleaner image! :) This image was taken during the MeetUp Mountain Lake Hike on August 21, 2011.
