On White Mountain Peak, California, USA, elevation 14,252 feet (4,344 m). On the Open House day of the Barcroft Experimental Station, which is run by the University of California. They had a medical team in the hut that would check your blood oxygen--unfortunately there was a half-hour wait, and we couldn't stick around.

On modern US 50 at Bob Scott Summit east of Austin, Nevada. As I researched for the Discussion, the Lincoln Highway across Nevada, including the southern route from outside Fallon, NV, westward into California, became US 50.

Looking east. This area is now in the Table Mountain Wilderness.

Looking west.

Washington state, USA. Looking north. Most years a non-technical route to the summit opens up on the south ridge, and that's how we got here! (Almost 30 years ago, gasp...)
