Fannette Island

Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, California, USA. The only island in Lake Tahoe! The bay is a glacial basin that is separated from the main body of the lake by a shallow sill. The tour boats cross that shoal very carefully when coming into the bay! The structure on the summit of the island is the Tea House: www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1159 Ah, to be an eccentric millionaire! The island is now part of a California State Park.

In Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, a glacial basin separated from the main body of the lake by a shallow sill. This is one of two touring sternwheelers on the lake. The other is no longer entering the bay due to low water. Telephoto view. California, USA.

On Lake Tahoe, on the California side. Emerald Bay is a glacial basin with a sill just lower than the lake level. Looking northeast; the distant mountains are in Nevada. The island is Fannette Island, the only island (aside from shoreline rocks) in Lake Tahoe. The prominent highway at the left is California State Route 89. View from the Granite Lake trail.
