Postcards from the personal collection of my husband's grandparents. They had emigrated from Barrow-in-Furness where his grandfather Harry King was born. (Agnes originally came from Greenock Scotland.) There are quite a few postcards from the north of England or Scotland that they either brought with them or relatives sent over to them.

Written on the back by Harry King: Cotton & Woolen Mills in Stubbins, Lancashire, England. Postcards from the personal collection of my husband's grandparents. They had emigrated from Barrow-in-Furness where his grandfather Harry King was born. (Agnes originally came from Greenock Scotland.) There are quite a few postcards from the north of England or Scotland that they either brought with them or relatives sent over to them. What's that funnel thing on the hillside on the left? There is a fancy circular stamp on the back that says around it: Furness Railway OAVENDO TUTUS [?] Also: Furness Abbey Hotel, Barrow-in-Furness. Beautifully situated within the grounds of Furness Abbey and adjoining Furness Abbey Station. Centre for the English Lake District. Within 11/2 miles of "George Romney's Early Home." Message is addressed to: Mrs. M. King c/o Mrs. B Troughton 65 Derby St. Somerville Mass. U.S.A. (crossed out and re-addressed to 7 Litchfield St. Vermont) Dear M. Many thanks for your letter & contents rec'd this morning. will write a long letter when holidays are over. Last week we had glorious weather but this week so far it is very thundery. We are just having a very severe thunderstorm worst we had for some yrs in Barrow. Hope you will have a good time in New York. Fondest love to Harry, Agnes & Ronnie & all at 65 not forgetting your self. Yours ever, Fred & Maud Harold is in camp with the scouts for a fortnight will tell you all the news later. [?] at Effie's. You will see the papers and hear all the news.
