A photograph from my husband's GGrandmother's album of an unknown elderly woman with a goiter. Brought forward for Vintage Photo Theme Park theme of "medical". The only pre - iodized salt way to get the necessary iodine was in seafood, so the population in landlocked states was at risk. I would think that in Vermont there would have been an adequate supply from Maine and New Hampshire, but perhaps she didn't like seafood.
