Terrible photo - but I loved this path as a kid. Almost at my Auntie Pearl's house. We walked on it after taking the bus from Leyton. This is the River Ching, and this picture was taken from Beech Hall Road, Highams Park, London.

Brought forward this time for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme: CHRISTMAS IN JULY. My mother said (when I laughed my head off at the tree in this picture) that they were impressed there WAS a tree! (In 1955, this was still post-war Britain in many ways.) !955, Highams Park, London, at my Auntie Pearl's house. I am in the middle and flanked by my cousins - Heather and John. I love the one string of lights and the cotton wool on the top branches only.

One of my favorite found pictures. I got this in a second hand shop in Highams Park, London in 1974. Brought forward (late) for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "favorite photos." Even though this is an English family (I assume) it always reminded me of the American Jewish family from the Lower East Side in the children's book All-of -a -Kind Family by Sydney Taylor - a book I loved as a kid.
