I was obsessed with paper dolls.
These were the first I made. They didn't have extra clothes, but they were cut out, named, and played with.
I was 10.

I often used to cut out the doll on the cover of the paper doll book in order to have "twins". Two for the price of one!
This one's name was Susan - it was a popular name back then - I have several others with the same name.

She was a "magnet dolly" (it says on the back) She has a magnet in the middle of her back and on the back of her clothes. Her name was also printed on the back and she came with a Storybook which I don't remember. I had two other magnet dollies but she was the first and favorite. Her name was Rosemary.
I think she lost her arm in the 90s when she was played with by the girls at the school where I worked. I was really happy they loved my paper dolls too!
Groom and Clothes

The poor groom has lost his feet but he didn't really matter much anyway. In the paper doll world it's the women and children that were the ones I cared about - the men were all kind of dopey, uncool looking background figures that showed up as occasional love interests but were mostly relegated to the background.
The best man has gone missing but the brown suit was his. My memory is that he looked exactly like the groom!

Paper dolls from England (although some of these clothes don't look very English to me!)
Early 1960s.
