Ruth Pretending to Talk on the Phone

Loaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: Telephones This is 1964 and shows our fellow next door neighbor immigrants from England in their new house in Connecticut. Unlike our family they had owned a phone in England, but it was absolutely only for their father's business use. "When it rang [very rarely, probably] my sister and I used to stand there and look at it". (says Ruth). This was taken in the first few days they were in the States. Ruth is pretending to talk, because as she says, "Who would I call?" Our family didn't get a phone until months later. We had never had one, and my parents didn't understand, at that point, the reason for one.

Taken in Fairfield, CT 1965. This was the first car my family had ever owned. It was a really big deal and it (she) was given a name. I don't remember how it got bashed up. It was beautiful when we first got it. I think it's a Lincoln Mercury but not sure.

Happy Birthday, Helen!

Me holding Helen in Fairfield, 1967. I so wanted her to be my little sister! Happy Birthday Helen - you sure were adored! This picture was taken on the day my grandparents returned to England, stopping by Weeping Willow Lane at the Browns on the way to Kennedy Airport. That hideous dress I'm wearing was made of some thin foam type material and was what I had chosen to wear the first day of 8th grade. : ) I'm thirteen.

My Nana and Grandad, William and Ann Gregory, came over to visit in 1967. Here they are visiting the Browns in Fairfield and perhaps meeting Helen for the first time as she was born over here. Happy Birthday Helen!
