Jesus, From Behind

14 Jan 2025 6 175
Brought forward for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: RÜCKENFIGUR OR "BACK TO CAMERA" (Jan. 13 - Jan. 19, 2025) I had to use this one again. Family pictures and pictures I've collected have generally been more conventional, so it turns out that Jesus gets another showing. I actually think that the RÜCKENFIGUR capture adds power to the image ! It was originally uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of:: FAMOUS - a person or place Written on the back: Statue of Christ on Mt. Coreovado - 2300 ft above city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (and written in another hand) When the Fh. [?] was there the sun was not right for front view. S.J.W.

Angel Wings

31 Jul 2024 3 3 96
Uploaded (late) for the Vintage Photos Theme Park monthly theme of : OBLIVIOUS My mother-in-law making "angel wings" over the shoulders of an unsuspecting, oblivious friend. Late 1930s/early 1940s, Colby College, Waterville, Maine.

Farm Scene

11 Jul 2023 2 140
Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: A BARN, FARMHOUSE, OR ANY VARIETY OF AGRICULTURAL BUILDING I was thinking that this old bank barn had an interesting fan on the roof - but I think it's actually a fan behind the barn building. The little boy is having a drink (milk from their cows?) in front of the farmhouse with the barn, fan, and probable silo behind him. The photo is edged with a design that I've only seen on prints from the 1930s - but it may have been printed later than that.

Joanne and her Friend

12 Mar 2016 3 330
With a small slice of the Wall Street wall in the background, so it can go into "The Wall" album. Joanne (on the left) is my husband's mom - her friend is probably Helen Beardsley. I sent this to my second oldest son recently, to show him how much he looks like his grandmother, but both he and his wife were astonished at how much Joanne looks like Arya Stark from The Game of Thrones.

Patsy and Agnes King, Springfield, Vermont c1936

This is a teeny (about one and a half inches by 1 inch) photo on a strip of 2. My husband's Aunt Patsy - his father's sister - and his Grandmother Agnes (Forsyth) King. Perhaps Patsy is showing off her new birthday bicycle.

High Jump

Looks like #2 is very close to hitting the observer. Probably somewhere in Vermont - possibly Ronnie King is one of the men.

Smoke Break

03 Mar 2018 5 4 513
Brought forward for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "SMOKING". I think it was unusual for a man in those days to not smoke. (Late 1920s.) My grandfather, Gudmund Andreas Lundbech, is the one with the hat. I've just connected with a Lundbech from Denmark through Flikr [note: about fifteen years ago] - who is distantly related. He kindly sent me lots of genealogical information about our family including the name of Gudmund's mother which my father never knew. Photo taken in Wales - the other men are unknown.

Patsy in the Garden c1932

26 Apr 2009 193
Hand tinted photo of Patsy King in what appears to be a garden in process. Her Dad Harry King, is in the background. Taken about 1932. Springfield, Vermont.

Her graduation picture. Springfield High School, Vermont 1938. I don't know who did the hand-tinting but it's nicely done.

Bill Dockerill and Ivy (Earp) Dockerill

Probably taken in the 1930s. England. I love the man in the background who looks just like one of the Thompson Twins from TinTin.

High School c1938 (Springfield, Vermont)

I love the bohemian look of my mother-in-law on the left - appreciated more when viewed large. Joanne Illingworth, Ronnie King and Helen Beardsley, leaving High School on Park Street, Springfield, Vermont.

Formal shot of Pearl Gregory sent by my cousin Erin from Australia from pictures sent out to the Earp family from England in the 1930s.

Pearl Gregory

Another picture sent to Australia to the Earps and then to me. I love the sweetness of this picture. My Auntie Pearl was a lovely person -a strong personality and a great storyteller with a wonderful laugh. I used to love to visit.
