We're in the International Postcard Swap for Families 2011, organized by Zoe Toft of the blog "Playing By the Book": www.playingbythebook.net/2011-international-postcard-swap... We made our postcards from recycled boxes (like cereal boxes, cookie boxes, cracker boxes); all the images are historical photos of women and children, and all are from Flickr Commons (see below). The painted backgrounds are by me, the sharpie marker parts are by both me and my daughter. There's also some rubber stamping and inking. This image of Justine Wise and her mother Louise Waterman Wise, 1920, is from the Center for Jewish History NYC uploads to Flickr Commons.

Found this postcard at the Long Beach Flea Market last summer. The back says: "Downing New Mexico Abt 1912 or 13 Grandma Pat, age abt 11 or 12 & little playmate Martin Weinhomer We used to play indians & cowboys in a Teepee I built in our back yard - or go skating together he was about 8 & lonely too-- " Can't find any reference to a Martin Weinhomer out there, but if you know more about him or Pat, I'd love to hear about them.
