To stay near a city but not in it is potentially to avoid unnecessary expense and hassle. My interests go sufficiently beyond the purely touristy to make it more than worthwhile to stay in Burlingame, south of San Francisco. Although the background of this photograph is unprepossessing, the Bayfront area has many attractions including the Ice Plant (previously featured), shore birds and this pedestrian bridge. 200_2_P1090731

At the opposite end of the scale to the Bay Bridge, but still important to my 'Bridges....' set, stands this pedestrian bridge over a creek in Bayfront Park on San Francisco Bay. It straddles the city line between Millbrae (foreground) and Burlingame. P1190240

Bayfront Park, straddling the city line between Burlingame and Millbrae on San Francisco Bay, is a wonderful place to watch aircraft and birds. The low shores are teeming with birds who seem entirely unconcerned by the nearby multi-runway operation. This is the only reasonably successful shot of a series - the avocets will have to wait for another visit. P1190241
